Senior Data Scientist

Are you a scientist in love with all about data?
We are a Big Data platform company and data IS our product! We are looking to add skilled and passionate Data Scientists to our team in Milan.

• Do you want to identify new opportunities, advocate your ideas, and test the latest ML/AI algorithms in a (real) Big Data framework?

You will get the chance to work closely with everyone in our Data team, composed of both Junior and Senior Data Scientists, as well as to interface day by day with engineering and product teams. You could either mentor or be mentored!

Your final goal will be to create algorithms that turn our data into critical information and new products.

You will get your hands dirty with everything from data exploration and initial prototyping to deployment of data-driven production code.

We’ll guide you in identifying how to best leverage our data to improve our platform, working the Python/pySpark Data Science Stack and a modern architectural infrastructure. Don’t worry, you can always count on the support of both your senior teammates and experienced Big Data engineers.

What we expect you to have experience in:

• Designing experiments, testing hypotheses, and building models
• Conducting advanced data analyses and highly complex algorithms
• Discovering insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining, and visualization techniques
• Providing data that is congruent and reliable, and validating your findings using an experimental and iterative approach
• Proposing innovative ways to look at problems on the set of information available: we need your fresh insight!

Who you are:

• 4+ years of experience in the latest ML/AI algorithms, Python/Pyspark, Data science stack.
• A team player who loves to collaborate and work with stakeholders from different backgrounds in an international environment.
• A strong (and fun!) communicator
• You have a passion for finding pragmatic and smart solutions to complex problems
• You *really* have a solid understanding of math and statistics
• You have basics of SQL
• You master Jupyter, pandas, NumPy, matplotlib/seaborn, and scikit-learn
• You love to write clean and maintainable Python code

We’re also looking for:

• Work hard/play hard mindset
• Proficient in English (we work a lot with the New York office)
• The ability to say no, and to explain why
• Strong ping-pong skills

Experience in:

• building/contributing to python libraries
• geospatial or mapping technologies – it’s our bread and butter!
• BigData (e.g. Spark, Presto, Hadoop)
• Web application development (Dash, HTML, JS, React)
• TensorFlow, Keras and/or PyTorch

According to the latest covid regulations, we’re now able to attend our downtown Milan office again. We adopted a hybrid model, and provide 8 full weeks per year of full remote! In the others, you’re more than welcome to enjoy our ping pong table, lounge area and play Mario Kart.
